JOHN IS WELL-SUITED AFTER CASH VICTORY

Story Image

John Reed was reimbursed

Thursday July 1,2010

By Maisha Frost

NOW take heart from the determination of John Reed. In March we covered the stonewalling the disabled pensioner met when he tried to get his money back from Winebergs Bespoke Tailors in Leeds.

A previous customer of the company, he was upset when he paid £137 for a replacement pair of suit trousers, but got nothing like the value in return.

After taking his order and providing a receipt, the company told him they had run out of matching fabric. Instead it offered, he says, to let out his existing ones for free and refund his money.

But though John, from Carterton, Oxfordshire, got his old trousers back, his money did not follow, despite Crusader’s best efforts. So John, angry to have coughed up £137 for a mere alteration, was advised he could begin court proceedings for breach of contract.

Winebergs then offered him £150, he now reports.  “The cheque’s cleared, so once again I thank Crusader for helping gain a satisfactory outcome.”
